The Amazonian Initiative Movement (AIM), in collaboration with the Port Loko District Women In Governance Network (PoDWIGN), is pleased to inform its staff, partners, and the general public that the "Tree of Life Training" has been successfully concluded today, 20th November 2025 at the Port Loko District Council Hall where they hosted over 120 participants who came all over the 13 chiefdoms of Port Loko District.

Bloodless Bondo, Uphold the Culture: The Neneh's Strategy in action to end FGM

FGM Shrine was Replaced with a School



Construction of Schools in remote communities where Bondo Bushes [FGM Shrines] had existed. AIM through its partners built a modern school structures to boost the girl child education. The organization and the various schools' authorities have agreed to inculcate FGM topics in their school curriculum.


Village Saving Loan





The Village Savings and Loan is a scheme used by AIM Sierra Leone in-order to boost the economy of women especially the Ex-FGM Practitioners. The organization has supported about 25 groups of women with trainings, seed money, savings boxes, and stationaries. These groups have been monitored on weekly basis so as to provide them the needed technical and moral support for the normal functioning of the various groups. This has helped to reshape the economic activities of these women through the engagement in small scale businesses to support the education of their children and their daily up-keeping.


Water & Sanitation

FGM Trap for Girls and Women:  Replaced with a handpump well, where the Neneh ideas come to life. 






BMZ/Pfefferminzgreen funds the Water Well against FGM project. This project aimed at reducing the high level of violence perpetrated against women and girls in rural communities, especially the abduction of young girls into FGM.  The roads to the stream were often used as a means of forcing initiation into FGM.

AIM- Sierra Leone has supported rural women especially Ex-Sowies through the Women in Agriculture Project supported by greenThe project provided seeds, agricultural equipment and food for work for the 10 groups of women in rural communities.
