Hello, we are AIM Sierre Leone

Experienced in handling FGM-related issues.

 Our Approach

Background

The Amazonian Initiative Movement, abbreviated as AIM, is an independent women’s rights organization founded in November 2000 by refugee women at the then Kalia Refugee Camp in Conakry, Guinea. Amazonian Initiative Movement (AIM) is a registered Non-Governmental Organization recognized by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender, and Children’s Affairs, SLANGO, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Development and Economic Planning.

It is a human right, non-governmental, non-lucrative, and non-political movement. AIM is not a for-profit organization but rather works to enhance citizens’ active participation and involvement in upholding human rights, cultures, and promoting participatory governance at the grassroots levels through effective information dissemination, advocacy, lobbying, dialogue forums, civic education, and community-driven programs/activities.

WHAT IS AIM?

OUR VISION

To breed a generation of strong, self-reliant women empowered to challenge issues that affect their well-being, protecting and thriving in dignity and equality for a Sierra Leone where every girl grows and is free from harmful practices.

OUR MISSION

To promote and protect the rights of women and girls through mobilization of communities, influencing policy and legal reforms, education, and survivor-led advocacy, working collaboratively to eliminate FGM and other gender based violence and uphold the human dignity of every woman and girl in Sierra Leone
